The members of the science and security board moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock forward largely, though not exclusively, because of the mounting dangers of the war in Ukraine.

We moved the clock forward the closest it has even been to midnight. It is now 90 seconds to midnight.

The Doomsday Clock debuted in 1947. It was around for the ENTIRETY of the Cold War. The Russian missile crisis, the Bay of Pigs – they've seen it all.

But Russia invading Ukraine?

Now we are the closest to destruction that we've ever been!
