The European Union just approved a law to effectively ban the sale of fossil fuel cars by 2035

You guys, this is only twelve years from now.

Twelve years is not very much time at all.

Got that? If you live in the EU, you will only be able to purchase a new car come 2035 if the car is electric.

The European Parliament on Tuesday formally approved a law to effectively ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the European Union from 2035, aiming to speed up the switch to electric vehicles and combat climate change.

The landmark rules will require that by 2035 carmakers must achieve a 100% cut in CO2 emissions from new cars sold, which would make it impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered vehicles in the 27-country bloc.

This is all part of the EU's plan to combat global warming and it has absolutely nothing to do with taking away freedoms from the people. I'm sure everything will be fine once we make the world carbon neutral. The government won't need to step in and get strict when people don't follow the rules, because everyone will understand them, follow them to a T, and be completely satisfied with life.

Quick side note: Where are you getting the electricity for these electric cars then EU? Cuz I'm pretty sure it's coal and not all those green things you guys are always talking about.

Anyhow, here's one perk in this new law for the rulebreakers:

Still, the EU law met resistance from some industry and countries when it was proposed in July 2021. As a result, the final deal includes some flexibilities including that small carmakers producing less than 10,000 vehicles per year can negotiate weaker targets until 2036.

Wow, an extra twelve months!
