Yeah, so apparently this little digital gala was meant to spread word of the EU's Global Gateway program, which is basically a Western response to China's Belt and Road system, the largest infrastructure investment in the history of the world.

Here's an ad the EU put out a few weeks ago concerning this digital space in the metaverse:

According to the spokesperson, the promotional post's purpose is "to intrigue that audience, primarily on TikTok and Instagram, and to encourage them to engage with the broader substance of the campaign, which will increase awareness of what the EU does on the world stage among an audience that is not typically exposed to such information."

Well I guess nobody really cares about the Global Gateway, now do they?
