The good news is the White House press secretary says illegal migration is down 90%. The bad news is that she's a pathological liar.

Get your protective eyewear, folks; the gaslight on this one is awfully bright.

Here's our Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, letting us know that illegal migration into the U.S. has come down by more than 90%.

I mean those are numbers worth rejoicing over.

Finally the border crisis is at an end.

Except that this statement is 100% fabricated.

You have got to love the community notes at the bottom of the video, fact-checking the heck out of this sort of disinformation.

From 2016 to 2020, the average annual number of illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border was 479,005. For the years 2021 and 2022, the average increased significantly to 1,938,409.

And then there's this one:

2022 had 2.76 million illegal border crossings, more than doubling the previous record. Migrant border crossings haven't decreased. March 2023 saw a 25% increase in border crossings.

As far as why Jean-Pierre thinks illegal migration is down so much; well it's not because she isn't a true believer. Just look at the context of the statement:

… his first day in this administration, the President put forth a comprehensive immigration legislation.

Of course no one wanted to pass that legislation because it would essentially give everyone who crossed illegally a path to citizenship, hugely expanding Obama's Dreamers program, which the courts wouldn't let Trump end, even though it was an executive order and not a law.

Speaking of executive order, she continued:

In the meantime, he's put forth some — he has tools that he's used to — to make sure that we do this — we actually deal with the immigration system in a humane way, and in a — in a way that is that — that actually deals with what we're seeing at the border.

And by that, she means Biden is acting like his legislation was passed, so they don't see the droves crossing the border as "illegal" migration. They're just on Biden's path to citizenship.
