The Minnesota Dept. of Transportation is letting the public name its new snowplow, and the entries are on point.

More often than not, our local governments seem to act like miniature bureaucracies, with little input from the public and many humorless, seemingly out-of-touch decisions being thrown around at breakneck speed. But sometimes, the government does something silly and smart to engage with the people they were actually elected to represent, and in this case, the results are hilarious.

The Minnesota Dept of Transportation (DOT) is currently running a "Name a Snowplow" contest to determine what to call the newest snowplow in its fleet. This has become a bit of an annual tradition, as the DOT did the same thing last year, resulting in the hilariously named snowplow, Plowy McPlowface.

Of course, this was a reference to that similar and infamous naming contest that went wildly out of control before landing on the now-legendary name of Boaty McBoatface...

But I digress.

I would recommend everybody follows the link below in order to check out the 50 finalists and vote on the winner. I went through all of these with my kids last night, and here were some of our favorites...
