MLB now has first-ever female umpire

I had a few female jokes lined up when I saw this headline ...

... But then I realized the male umpires have already made enough of a joke of the league, so I might as well keep the jokes in the chamber for when we get a good highlight from Jen here.

Example of how umps already stink:

Anyhow, back to Jen.

From the AP:

Pawol will work the bases in Saturday's doubleheader at Truist Park and the plate on Sunday, MLB told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Pawol, a 48-year-old from New Jersey, worked spring training games in 2024 and this year.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made a good joke for us, and I'll share it with you now.

'Baseball's done a great job of being completely inclusive,' Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. 'I'll be watching. It's good for the game.'

Pawol spent nine years in the minors, and will now get her big break in the MLB ...

Just in time for automated balls and strikes to hit the scene!

I'll keep those female jokes ready for next week after we get Pawol behind the plate.

Oh, and I can't leave here without giving the umps some leeway. Catchers have recently become experts at earning strikes.

Now it's time to see if these catchers can fool a lady out there!
