You guys…
This only the beginning but it's great news for baseball fans everywhere. First of all, if this goes through, you'll never have to travel to Oakland ever again to see a baseball game (or any professional sport for that matter). Second, you WILL be able to catch a game in Vegas. A win for everyone if you ask me.
MLB owners on Thursday unanimously voted to approve the Oakland Athletics' relocation to Las Vegas, according to multiple reports.
The A's, whose owner John Fisher has been under fire from fans for failing to properly invest in the team, have not been able to strike a deal on a site for a new ballpark in Oakland, prompting the move to Vegas.
One hurdle remains for the A's as a Nevada teachers union is fighting the $380 million in public funding that is set to go toward the franchise's new $1.5 billion stadium on the Vegas Strip, which isn't set to be ready until 2028.
So we'll have to wait until 2028 for this new Vegas baseball stadium, but rumor has it the A's may be playing in Vegas as early as 2025, using their AAA stadium which is already there in town.
Get those trips to Vegas scheduled out, boys. You've got five years to plan ahead, so let the wife know you'll be out of town in 2028. Heck, you could catch a football game while you're in town, too, if you plan well enough.
Sad news for Oakland: Once the A's move, there will be zero professional sports teams in the city. The Raiders left a few years back and so did the Warriors. Man, that town is where sports teams go to die.
R.I.P. Oakland A's.
