Ohio House overrides Gov. DeWine's veto against protecting girls’ sports and children’s bodies ✊

The only meaningful compensation for grim, frustrating news like this from last month:

... is when state lawmakers just go ahead and get the job done themselves:

The Ohio House of Representatives has voted to override Republican Gov. Mike DeWine's veto of legislation that aims to ban [transgender surgery] for minors and restrict [males] from participating in girls' and women's sports.

(It's Fox News, so we had to edit their LGBT doublespeak to actually reflect reality.)

It's worth pointing out that, shortly after vetoing the legislation, DeWine quickly passed an executive order that sort of accomplished the same thing, a plain act of desperate political cowardice:

The Ohio House was having none of it, however, nor should they. Protecting kids and vulnerable women is the people's business; it naturally falls to lawmakers, not craven executives, to see that it's done properly.

The vote, meanwhile, was pretty decisively in favor of overturning:

And as Riley Gaines notes, the matter now falls to the state Senate:

Onward indeed, Ohio! Get it done!
