Yes, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, whose country began a Covid vaccine rollout last month, is now threatening to jail citizens who refuse the vaccine.

"You choose, vaccine or I will have you jailed," Duterte said in a televised address late on Monday…

"But for as long as you are here and you are a human being, and can carry the virus, get vaccinated. Otherwise, I will order all the village captains to have a tally of the people who refuse to be vaccinated. Because if not, I WILL HAVE IVERMECTIN MEANT FOR PIGS INJECTED INTO YOU."

Yes, you read that correctly. Not only did Duterte threaten jail time to these anti-vaxxers, he threatened to have them injected with Ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication used to treat infections in the body. Ivermectin might be a tool in the fight against Covid-19, but it hasn't yet received widespread approval.

Duterte also gave his anti-vaxxer citizens the option of leaving the country, which surprisingly more people haven't done already.

This is all classic Duterte, though. He's always running his mouth like this, and doesn't always get what he wants.

Health officials in the Philippines still say getting vaccinated is voluntary. So that's good.

Still, you never know when a crazy like Rodrigo Duterte is going to go full dictator and do exactly as he pleases.
