The treasury secretary says the US can afford to fight wars in Ukraine and Israel with a $2 trillion deficit and debt approaching $34 trillion 😭

If I had Janet Yellen's poker face, I could tell my wife we need a second new car and I'd get away with it!

America can certainly afford to stand with Israel and to support Israel's military needs and we also can and must support Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.

Interesting.

Here's a counterpoint to Yellen's thoughts:

And another counterpoint:

The surge stems largely from a sharp decline in tax revenues, coupled with an increase in mandatory spending on Social Security, Medicare and interest payments, as well as in other areas.

Yeah, that's our debt and our deficit. We've gone up by half a TRILLION in just the last month and the government only squeezed $4.9 trillion out of us last year.

Imma put this in ballpark numbers you can understand.

  • The government is a family earning $80,000 a year that spent $96,000 last year and will spend $122,000 this year.
  • This family also took out a lot of loans in 2020 and 2021, totaling around $100,000.
  • As if all that wasn't bad enough, the family has been overspending for decades, including lengthy battles on ventures in Iraq and Afghanistan that cost $128,000.
  • The family is now $536,000 in debt.

Despite that, Janet Yellen is super chipper about America's ability to continue to overextending herself indefinitely while also making the fat Swamp creatures richer off the taxpayer's dime.

Yellen added that the American economy is "doing extremely well" as inflation goes through the roof and no one can afford homes but it doesn't matter because most of us are struggling to buy groceries.
