The United States will not recognize Maduro's "victory" in Venezuelan election, acknowledges his rival as the winner

Well, it took long enough.

The United States has, for once under Blinken leadership, made the correct foreign policy call.

Exit polls showed that Maduro's opponent had an insurmountable lead. But somehow the people who counted the votes found that Maduro actually did surmount the lead.

Somehow ...

Here's Blinken's statement:

The relevant portion:

Given the overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the United States and, most importantly, to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo González Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela's July 28 presidential election.

Maduro, of course, responded very professionally and diplomatically to the United States.

Maduro responded with a quick admonishment: 'The United States needs to keep its nose out of Venezuela!'

Ahh yes, very. mature.

First he threatens to fight one of our citizens, Elon Musk, and then he tells the State Department to keep its nose out of their business.

Speaking of Musk, he was very excited to see that the United States has decided to recognize Urrutia as the rightful president.

No word, however, if Maduro is going to be man enough to actually engage in fisticuffs with the tech billionaire. Although the very brave and bold Maduro has, allegedly tried to block Elon Musk on X.

If nothing else, this has been entertaining to watch.
