Bro, this thing is a monster.

You've heard of the Giant Anaconda, but you probably didn't know there's a larger, completely different species of Anaconda, which is now called the Eunectes akayima, or Northern Green Anaconda.

Dutch biologist Professor Freek Vonk discovered the largest member of the new species in the Amazon, and look, here's a video of him swimming with one now (cover your eyes, snake haters!).

Bro, that snake's head is as big as Vonk's. And boy I'd be on my way out of that water quicker than you could say "anaconda" if I saw one of those things in the depths. But this dude's just swimming there like it's no big deal.

Wow.

Geneticists have known for years that there are two types of anaconda, and after years of sampling the animals they've finally been able to prove the difference.

The world's largest snake has been discovered in the Amazon Rainforest - and at 26ft long and weighing 440lbs, it's an absolute whopper …

Until now, only one species of Green Anaconda - also called the Giant Anaconda - has been recognised in the Amazon.

However, the Northern Green Anaconda has been confirmed as a distinct species in a new study, published in Diversity this month …

'Although they look almost identical at first glance, the genetic difference between the two is 5.5% and that is huge.'

Only a matter of time before these researchers come across a larger one of these bad boys. And when that time comes, I'll meet you right back here.
