Vermont Christian school barred from competing in girls' basketball tourneys after forfeiting game against team with 6'1" trans player
· Feb 27, 2024 · NottheBee.com

You know how I've been telling you that the best way to protest this men-in-women's-sports thing is to simply opt out of competitions when your opponent is trans-identifying?

Yeah, it looks like they're taking that away from us now, too.

A serious thing that happened. In February 2023, Mid-Vermont Christian School forfeited a game which had them matched up with a trans-identifying male, and that led the Vermont Principals' Association to ban them from future tournaments.

The VPA said in a statement,

Mid-Vermont Christian School has every right to teach its beliefs to its own students. It cannot, however, impose those beliefs on students from other public and private schools; deny students from other schools the opportunity to play; or hurt students from other schools because of who those students are.

The team is now banned from all state-run activities and athletics with other Vermont schools.

Not The Bee has actually been reporting on this story for a year...

But let's be honest: Big Tech and the media suppress stories like this, which is why it's only slowly making its way around the block. Since many of you probably never saw this story, it's worth publishing again and again and again - every time it's in the news - so these brave girls at this brave school know people are fighting for them.

Mid-Vermont Christian refuses to let men dominate women's sports, and they've filed a lawsuit claiming the VPA ruling discriminates against their religious beliefs on gender and sexuality (not to say anything of science and common sense!). A few families, as well, have joined the lawsuit.

Tucker, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, expressed his confidence that the school will prevail in court as they await their next hearing date.

'The state is basically attempting to purge individuals like Chris and other family members in the state, from public discourse, from the ability… to speak out… on issues of significant, public concern,"'Tucker said, accusing the state of failing to consider 'the biological reality' and the health and safety risks to female athletes.

'We're very confident that we're going to prevail,' he concluded.

A 2023 statement from Mid-Vermont Christian Head of School, Vicky Fogg:

Mid Vermont Christian school is disappointed with the decision of the VPA Executive Council to ban us from participation in all VPA activities. We intend to appeal the decision. Cancelling our membership is not a solution and does nothing to deal with the very real issue of safety and fairness facing women's sports in our beloved state. We urge the VPA to reconsider its policies, and balance the rights of every athlete in the state.

We'll let you know when the time comes what the result of the above lawsuit is.

Until then, I guess I'll be out here practicing my women's basketball skills.
