The world has a new hottest pepper. Its name is Pepper X, and it's spicier than freakin' BEAR SPRAY
· Oct 19, 2023 · NottheBee.com

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a new hottest pepper in the world, and it was bred by the same guy who gave us the Carolina Reaper — it's called Pepper X, which is intimidating in itself.

Check it out: Our man Ed Currie not only bred the pepper, but he ate a whole one:

Ed Currie on the pepper:

A friend of mine in Michigan sent me a pepper that was brutally hot. It also had a really cool look to it. So I bred that pepper with the Carolina Reaper. It turned out to be a brutally hot pepper, hotter than the Reaper. The official Guinness World Record for Pepper X is 2.693 million Scoville Heat Units.

Some dangerously spicy stuff right there. I'm intimidated just looking at it.

Here's a little info on the new extreme-level-of-spicy Pepper X:

A new pepper three times hotter than the previous Guinness World Record holder hit the market this week.

Pepper X rates at an average of 2.693 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), a measure of pungency for peppers and chiles. That's hotter than law enforcement-grade pepper spray, which can reach up to 2 million SHU. It was created by Puckerbutt Pepper Co., which also developed the previous 10-year record holder, the Carolina Reaper.

Bro, it's hotter than bear spray!

And I can see the red-faced, milk-splashing YouTube challenges already in my mind. They're gonna be great, and I can't wait for the uploads.

Here's the guys on "Hot Ones," along with Pepper X creator Ed Currie, trying out the pepper:

Goodness, those men are braver than I.

A little reference for you so you can better imagine how spicy this bad boy really is.

And here's how Currie's day went after he ate that pepper on "Hot Ones":

Currie is one of only two people who have eaten the full pepper, alongside Danish musician and veteran pepper eater Chili Klaus. The pair sampled the pepper on the YouTube talk show "Hot Ones," an experience Currie said gave him cramps for four hours.

After he finished recording the "Hot Ones" episode in New York City, Currie said, he walked only 10 feet out of his car before he collapsed.

"I laid down on a marble wall in the rain and groaned in pain for about an hour," he said. "A couple of my friends helped me get up to my room, and they gave me some ice cream, which just caused the cramps to happen again."

Dude, no way. This bro eats one of his peppers — just one — and then goes down like he's having a man-strual cycle. Nope, no thanks.

I'll watch the videos online, maybe try the spiciest chocolate bar in the world (made with Pepper X), or try some of Puckerbutt's salsa, but I'd never eat one of these raw, no way.

Funny story: Pepper X was supposed to be released in 2020, but then Covid happened and it just wasn't the right time. The name Pepper X was simply a placeholder name until the delayed release kind of caused it to stick.

Anyhow, I'm not endorsing this sucker cuz I don't want any lawsuits over here at Not the Bee, so try it at your own risk!
