Do demons sing Rihanna songs in hell? A pastor claiming he had a near-death experience says they do.

Austin, TX, Pastor Gerald A. Johnson (who for some reason is being called a priest) released a TikTok video where he explains that in 2016 he had a heart attack and went to hell where demons sang Rihanna songs to torture people.

I'll be honest. I'm a naturally skeptical person, and it's impossible to verify or debunk these stories, so I'll just say up front that I'm not going to go down that road.

But whatever you think about near-death experiences, this is a viral thing happening in our culture right now that seems NTB worthy, so I'm reporting it.

Let's have a listen:

[Caution some of the images he describes are graphic]

Okay a lot of that sounds medieval, like something out of Dante's Inferno or Hieronymus Bosch's Visions of Hell, certainly not the separated-from-God hell of modern-day Evangelicals.

But the updated twist of demons singing Rihanna's "Umbrella" is new.

Now, I'm no fan of Rihanna's music, so I'm totally on board with it being a hit in hell. I mean what could be more torturous than demons singing bad covers of "Umbrella"?

But if you listen close, he also mentions Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy," and I like this song.

My first instinct was to be offended, and make some big endeavor to redeem the song.

However on listening to it again, regardless of whether the visions Johnson had are anywhere near accurate, either of these songs would be really awful to listen to on repeat while being tortured.

Just saying.
