Ohio woman Peilar Matthews went into labor early in the morning on January 28th. When she woke up with the contractions coming close together, the only other person at home was her 8-year-old son, Malone.

She asked him to call 911, which he did before rushing upstairs to get towels in preparation for an emergency delivery.

When he returned he saw that his mom was ready to deliver his baby brother.

Malone told Fox 8 News,

She was like pushing, and I like catch like I caught the baby.

Paramedics arrived soon after, and mom and baby were transferred to a hospital. Both are doing well.

Malone's father, Malachi Brown, has told his son in the past that he should consider becoming a doctor. I don't think he expected his 8-year-old to get this sort of hands-on experience.

Brown told Fox 8,

A lot of kids would have panicked under pressure. For him to be able to go get towels, call 911, call the ambulance, and not panic, so much, I'm very proud of him. I'm just happy Malone stood up and did a right thing. I know he could do it again if he had to, but he probably doesn't want to. But I know that he can.

In true 8-year-old boy fashion, Malone is over all of the attention that he's been getting, but he was happy that he was able to help his mom. And maybe not for the reason you'd think.

Because I did it and the doctors didn't, save my mom some money.
