There are a lot of love songs out there with the lyrics "I'll never let you go," but Paul and Gail Cline of London, Kentucky, have to go down in the annals of love as the greatest embodiment of those words.
Not even the EF4 tornado with 170-mile-per-hour winds that hit their town and killed 19 people could pull them away from each other.
They were rescued when someone in the neighborhood looking for survivors heard Gail Cline's screams.
βIn this bedroom, you can see where debris came through. This is where they were, and the neighbor came when he heard them screaming for help. So he came to help them, and he pulled them out into the hallway there,' Brandy Bowman, niece of the Clines, said.
They were taken to a local hospital, and unfortunately, they each lost an arm.
βThe doctors said the reason they lost opposite arms is because they were holding each other,' Taylor Baker, another niece of the couple, said.
Here is video showing the extent of the damage to the couple's property.
While they're still alive, Paul and Gail need assistance and prayer. Obviously, they lost the house that had been their family home for generations, but more worryingly, Gail is in the ICU because some of the debris pierced her lung.
And Paul, who has mild dementia, is very confused by what is happening.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with expenses.
