This dude created a GoFundMe for his "colon cancer" but he just wanted to buy into a poker championship 😑

Bro, this is too far. Like, I'm actually kind of mad at this guy.

Dude raised between $30,000 and $50,000, way more than enough to pay the $10,000 buy-in at the World Series of Poker No-Limit Hold'em World Championship. And then he just blew the money because apparently he sucks at poker.

GoFundMe is putting a permanent kibosh on Rob Mercer, the World Series of Poker player who lied on the platform about having cancer, took tens of thousands of dollars in donations and then blew it in Vegas.

A spokesperson for GoFundMe tells TMZ ... those who chipped in for Rob's fundraiser earlier this year have been fully refunded, and he's been axed from using the site in the future.

Seriously, how addicted to gambling do you have to be to set up a GoFundMe claiming you have terminal cancer in order to raise money for your buy-in at the World Series of Poker?

Just terrible.

Here's the page:

And to make matters worse, a fellow WSOP player, WHO HIMSELF ACTUALLY SUFFERS FROM A CHRONIC ILLNESS, donated $2,500 to this thing.

"GoFundMe has zero tolerance for the misuse of our platform and takes swift action against those who exploit the generosity of our community," the company said…

Las Vegas police didn't immediately respond Thursday to an inquiry about whether an investigation has been opened into Mercer. GoFundMe said in its statement it would cooperate with a law enforcement investigation.

I sure hope they make an example out of this guy. He totally deserves it.

Great idea on paper here, Rob, but nobody actually does anything like this in the real world, cuz, well, it's just slimy is what it is.

Do better, son.
