José Luis Callisaya Diaz, nicknamed 'El Araña' (the spider), was serving a 15-year sentence in a maximum security prison down in Bolivia. Time was moving slow, and Jose just wasn't having it — he needed to escape.
But how?
One day while watching Prison Break on Fox (please laugh), José looked out over the grasslands surrounding the prison and noticed there were several sheep grazing in the field.
And then BOOM!
LIGHTBULB!
José had a splendid idea.
What if he dressed up as a sheep and slipped past the guards on all fours to make his escape? A wolf in sheep's clothing sort of gig. That might work!
And it did work, because it was genius!
Oh yeah, when I say it worked, I mean it worked to get him past security. Though it wouldn't take long for prison guards to realize "The Spider" was not in his cell.
Diaz, nicknamed 'El Araña' (the spider), reportedly snuck past Chonchocoro prison security by crawling through grass in the middle of the night…
Guards quickly noticed that the slippery criminal wasn't in his cell and authorities scrambled to bring him into incarceration.
Guards found him in the act as he inched across the grassy field on his hands and knees and he was quickly returned to his cell.
In a bizarre set of photos, Diaz can be seen wearing the sheep wool jacket and dark trousers while appearing to trail through the grass, impersonating the farmyard animal.
Here are some of those photos for you:
Man, he almost made it out!
Turns out though, this was sort of a baaaa-d idea, now wasn't it?
