This Florida woman had her driveway stolen over the holidays. You read that right – her DRIVEWAY.

This is a very bizarre story out of Florida where a single mom intent on selling her home was doing some upgrades to the property.

Amanda Brochu was doing your typical painting, replacing the roof, and minor touch-ups, and she also reached out to different individuals about repairing or replacing her driveway.

Then one day last month, Brochu came back from an outing with her child and when she got to her house she saw her concrete driveway was completely gone.

Yep, someone who came to the house to sell contracting services simply drove up and took it while she was gone.

I've heard of and written about a lot of bizarre crimes on our site, but this one takes the cake.

Or takes the driveway, I guess.

Then, her son told her people had come by the house to measure the driveway, counting five different contractors in the span of a few days.

She confronted one of them, who said a man by the name of "Andre" reached out to him to ask about a driveway replacement quote. The contractor said Andre claimed to be the landlord and gave Brochu Andre's phone number.

Text messages supplied by the contractor show Andre received a quote for $7,200 to replace the driveway and agreed to the price. However, Andre said he couldn't meet the contractor to drop off the deposit.

The homeowner got in contact with the law to find out who this "Andre" fellow was and once police contacted him he said he had simply made a mistake when communicating with the contractor and not to worry about it.

Then a few days later, Brochu's driveway was gone.

"I was in unbelievable, like, utter shock," Real Estate Agent Rocki Sanchez, who Brochu hired to sell the home, said. "I've never seen this before. I've never had this happen to myself or anyone in our office."

Sanchez posted about the incident to a national Facebook group for realtors. Others began commenting that they've seen similar situations for unwanted exterior work, including paint and driveways.

They got in contact with the fishy "Andre" character again but he denies any involvement.

And with at least five other unsolicited and unidentified individuals scouting the driveway since the "for sale" sign went up, the list of possible suspects is large.

Brochu was stuck with a driveway-less house she was attempting to sell, lowering its value. All the while, she was under contract for a new house and needed the money from her home sale to close the deal.

The bill would have come to $10,000 to replace the driveway; however, there is a happy ending to the story.

UPDATE: After hearing about this situation, a Cox Media Group radio sponsor has offered to install a new driveway at no cost to the homeowner. The homeowner plans to donate the GoFundMe money to a local nonprofit in coordination with 9 Family Connection.

A Good Samaritan stepped in to help the single mother pay for a new driveway.

But the culprit, the concrete bandit, is still out there stealing who knows what roads, driveways, carports, and garages.

Another dastardly Florida man on the loose!
