It's every parent's nightmare for their child to disappear with no trace.
Thankfully, this story has the best of endings:
A frightened 4-year-old boy was found in the woods after leaving home with his black labrador retriever in New Jersey, police said.
The child was reported missing and disappeared for more than an hour the evening of March 30 in Buena Vista Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
"More than an hour" is, in parent-time, about 45,000 years. Hard to imagine what those people were going through as they waited for their son to be found.
Found he was, however, with the quick work of state police. And his dog performed exactly as you expect a very good dog to perform:
The moment troopers spot the child and race over to rescue him in the woods is seen in body-camera footage shared by state police.
The dog stayed with the child the entire time he was missing, the video shows.
Every kid deserves a dog like this.
