Donald Trump's indictment may turn out to be a blessing for his reelection chances, as the former president saw a flood of donations to his campaign after the indictment was announced.

The Trump campaign announced that they raised $4 million in the first 24 hours after the former president's indictment by a Manhattan grand jury.

Team Trump says the average donation was just $38 and that a quarter of contributions came from new donors who had never given to his campaign before.

"[Trump being] indicted by the district attorney in Manhattan has helped him quite a bit among Republican primary voters," pollster Daron Shaw said. "They view the case as politically motivated, and it reanimates feelings that Trump is still fighting forces they see as corrupt and out of control."

Trump is expected in New York on Tuesday for his arraignment.
