Paul Wilkinson, of Lancashire, England, was recently scheduled to fly from Faro, Portugal to Belfast, Ireland, but when he showed up at his gate at the airport and found that there was no one else waiting, he was a bit confused.
I spoke to the stewards waiting to take the passports, and they said, โOh, Mr. Paul, you're VIP today โฆ You're flying on your own,'
Wilkinson says that the flight crew did give him the true VIP treatment, even calling him "King Paul" throughout the duration of the three-hour flight.
He went on to say,
The service was second to none. They did a one-on-one safety demonstration, we took photographs and the captain came out and had a chat with me.
I've had a movie theater to myself before, which is wonderful, but never an unexpected private jet. Excuse me while I add this to my list of life goals.
Wilkinson said the icing on the cake was showing up to baggage claim and seeing his solitary suitcase come down the carousel.
Wilkinson explained how he ended up with his own private jet saying,
I think it was a total one off. They'd taken holidaymakers to Portugal and there was no one to come back and it was pure luck that I needed to go to Belfast.
It turned out to be a happy coincidence for Wilkinson. Meanwhile, his wife was flying from another location to meet him in Belfast and unfortunately didn't have the same luck as her husband,
My wife said she was cramped up on another flight, and I was on my own private jet.
