This is (thankfully) a heartwarming and inspiring story with a happy ending:
A high school cafeteria camera captured a harrowing moment Tuesday, when a basketball coach jumped into action to save a choking student's life.
Coach Joel Hueser was on lunch duty inside the cafeteria at Papillion-La Vista South High School in Papillion, Nebraska, when freshman Riley Kelly started to choke on a piece of his cheeseburger...
Gripped by fear, Kelly started to grab his throat and scream — and that's when fellow students reacted. Hueser, being made aware of what was happening, jumped up, ran over, and started the Heimlich maneuver.
The entire ordeal was captured on security footage. In the video, Hueser can be seen saving Kelly's life, and Kelly is naturally grateful for his valiant move.
I'm sure he is, as well he should be! Thank you, Coach Hueser!
What's baffling, however, is the frankly unbelievable reaction of young Mr. Kelly's friends at the table.
Namely, they don't have a reaction!
Watch the video and witness this young man's companions just seem to sorta shrug the whole thing off:
I mean... I'm not trying to be mean here, but... what the heck?
Obviously they made the right call in letting the coach handle things. But why are they all so calm? Their friend was choking! At the very least shouldn't they be like more agitated or something?
One of these fellows didn't even get off his phone during the whole thing!
I'm just mystified. Why?
