Hallie Scruggs is a name I won't forget.
I'll forget the name of the shooter quickly – just another person consumed by the evil of the human heart, bent on wanton destruction.
But not Hallie's name.
From the NY Post:
Among the six victims shot and killed inside a private Christian school in Nashville on Monday was the young daughter of a local pastor, according to reports.
Hallie Scruggs, one of three children slain in the sickening school shooting, was the 9-year-old child of Chad Scruggs, the senior pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church, the church confirmed to CBS News.
The head of the school was also murdered. I am not sure if the targets were chosen purposely, but the trans activist who committed this evil was a former student of the school who would have been familiar with school and church leadership on some level.
Three adult staffers were also killed and identified as custodian Mike Hill and substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, both 61, and school head Katherine Koonce, 60.
I don't have much to add except for a call to prayer: The very prayer that is viciously mocked by the enlightened woke and their continual scoffing at God Almighty.
Prayer has outlasted legions of murderers and tyrants throughout history, and it will last long after the wicked in our own age are dead and gone. If there is a God in heaven, then prayer means everything. If there is not, then nothing matters anyway.
So pray.
Heartbroken for Chad & Jada and their family at the loss of Hallie in todays shooting. I cannot fathom. This family needs grace like none other right now. They are a mainstay in Nashville… but they have the incredible weight of being the Pastor's of the very church where this tragedy occurred. They need so many prayers…. You never know the weight a pastor carries each day to lead an entire community of folks who rely on faith, direction and care… and today Chad and Jada need that community to rise up around them… to hold them up.
They can't lead in this moment, they can just be broken and weary. I cannot fathom the pain… for those in Nashville… now is the time we rise up behind all of these families who have experienced such pain and loss today… to my friends at Covenant I am on my knees for you today, and will stay there.
Praying for a stillness and peace for each of you. Chad Scruggs and family… my heart is burdened to remain faithful to pray over your family. There are absolutely no words for the weight, the pain and anguish you face today and the long road ahead.
May God surround you with men and women who will shelter your family in grace and love. Praying that God brings other great leaders to hold up your arms so your faith can remain steadfast in the face of hell itself. For Hallie, Evelyn, William, Cynthia, Katherine, and Mike…. May your rest with Jesus be sweet… and for your families I grieve deep today.
