This lady is the mom of the year hands down:

So as a parent you've got to be ready for anything at all times. But this is one of those "only in your nightmares" sort of "anythings" right here.

A 5-year-old child in Calabasas, California was out playing in the front yard last Thursday when he was FLIPPIN ATTACKED BY A MOUNTAIN LION!

The 65-pound mountain lion attacked the boy while he was playing in his front yard at about 10:45 a.m. PST, inflicting wounds to his head, neck, and upper torso. Capt. Patrick Foy, a spokesman with the CDFW, told The Associated Press that the mountain lion dragged the boy about 45 yards across the lawn.

Meanwhile, his mom was in the house, probably organizing and cleaning up, hustling like a good mother while her son played outside.

But then she noticed what was going on, and BOOM, PARENT MODE KICKED IN.

Like super-killer-no-holds-barred parent mode!

She burst out the door, ran up on the cougar who had hold of her son, and just started throwing haymakers at it, beating the thing senseless.

Then, after feeling momma's wrath, the cougar ran off and hid like a little wimp.

Soon, the boy was taken to a hospital for treatment, and it is reported that he was in stable condition.

Get better lil guy!

Unfortunately for the cougar (who was likely about a year old):

During a clearing of the family's yard, the [California Department of Fish and Wildlife] says a wildlife officer at the home discovered an "aggressive" mountain lion crouched in the corner of the property.

"Due to its behavior and proximity to the attack, the warden believed it was likely the attacking lion and to protect public safety shot and killed it on site," said the CDFW.

Yup, sorry fella.

It was bad enough you got beat up...

Okay for real, somebody go get this lady her "mom of the year" trophy.
