Drive drunk once and you've got a substance problem. Drive drunk more than that and you've got bigger problems even than that.
Do it 9 times and you might end up serving life in prison like this dude:
Christopher Faran Stanford, 50, was given a life sentence in prison after receiving his ninth DWI charge — claiming he was "unlucky" rather than irresponsible for repeatedly driving under the influence.
The reckless driver pleaded guilty to the felony charge and was handed the life term by a Parker County jury, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The guy obviously has issues that he refuses to take responsibility for. He plainly wasn't going to stop doing this. He was a danger to himself and more importantly to everyone around him.
Hopefully in prison he'll be able to get sober and stay sober. Most importantly he won't have access to both booze and cars.
He reportedly told his last hit-and-run victim prior to fleeing the scene:
"I have to go. I'm going to get in trouble."
He did get in trouble. Hopefully that's the last of it.
