A new bill in California would fine stores $1,000 for having separate girls and boys sections, because apparently CA has solved all their real problems already.

This story is both 100% unexpected and 100% dumb.

And 8209348% California.

CA assembly members Evan Low and Cristina Garcia (both democrats, duh) have put forward a bill that would REQUIRE stores in the Golden State to have a unisex section for all children's products and apparel.

Because, as we all know, there is no more dangerous place for a child than a GENDERED toy aisle.

The bill is all about inclusivity, of course. According to Reason,

Brick-and-mortar shops would have to display the majority of their products and clothing aimed at children in one undivided, unisex area on the sales floor. They'd also be barred from putting up signage that would indicate whether a product was intended for a boy or girl.

Restrictions would also apply to retailers that operate online. Products on their websites would have to be displayed in a gender neutral way there as well.

Good luck filtering!

Low introduced a similar bill back in May of last year, but dropped it because of Covid-19, but now that that's solved along with the rest of California's problems, it's back to work protecting the children! This is what he said about at the time:

"the policy behind this bill is not only important in regards to addressing perceived societal norms but also ensuring that prejudice and judgment does not play a prominent role in our children's lives. I look forward to working on this issue in the future."

The policy would only apply to stores with over 500 employees, but failure to comply with this proposed mandate of wokeness could land you a nice $1,000 fine.

So now in addition to trying to recover from the lockdown goblinery of Gavin Newsom, teetering CA retailers may also now have the opportunity to reorganize their whole layout and signage to comply with the woke nanny state.

Thanks, California!
