At 39 weeks pregnant, mom Sarah Vincent took her 3-year-old son, along with her parents to see a reshowing of the movie Sing II, at the local CineWorld.
Just 20 minutes into the cartoon, Sarah began to feel discomfort and excused herself to go to the restroom, but she only made it out to the lobby where she had to lie down. She then asked an employee to get her parents from the theater. Her parents tried to help her out to their car but didn't make it out of the lobby before her water broke.
The theater staff rushed into action, calling for an ambulance, putting up privacy screens, and ultimately helping to deliver the baby.
While all this was happening, the dad-to-be, Miles Gareth, was at work. Gareth told Wales Online News,
Sarah's dad rang me to say something was happening, and then rang me back ten minutes later to say she'd had the baby and not to rush!
I'm pretty sure he still rushed!
Shortly afterward, Miles arrived at the theater to meet his 7-pound baby girl, Lowri Miles.
The proud dad said that while Lowri's birth was surprising, she's not the first unexpected delivery for the couple, saying,
When we had our other son, Liam, who is now three, he also arrived quite quick, having been born in the car on the way to hospital. It's one we're never going to forget. I thought the car was bad enough, and we've got the cinema story to tell as well now!
With that track record, I'm surprised she had the nerve even to leave her house at 39-weeks pregnant!
The new parents were especially grateful to Cineworld team leader Jacey Howcroft who assisted with the delivery. Howcroft said of the experience,
It was an all-round fantastic effort by everyone involved and definitely a shift I'll never forget. I wish the family all the best and hope to see them again in the future, it was a blessing to be a part of the experience.
The Cineworld location also gifted baby Lowri with a lifetime Cineworld Unlimited membership, which will allow her to see free movies for life.
Maybe next time, mom can finally make it to the hospital to give birth!
