This police officer was caught shoplifting at Dick's Sporting Goods while on duty and then she was taken to jail in her own cruiser

Some people become police officers for all the wrong reasons. This woman joined the force for the free Nikes, but it turns out they weren't free at all.

A little more from the story:

A police officer in Columbus, Mississippi, has been arrested for shoplifting.

Robin Conners, 33, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shoplifting at a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Columbus.

Police were called for a report of shoplifting around 12:30 p.m.

She was booked into the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center at 1 p.m. for shoplifting/less than $1,000.

The chief of police says that Conners was on-duty and in uniform in a patrol car.

Yes, that really says, "Conners was on-duty and in uniform."

The audacity of this woman!

Like, how you gonna roll up to a Dick's Sporting Goods with your police uniform on, act like you're gonna buy some shoes, and then just walk right on out the door without paying?

You're literally the only person in the store that people could accurately match to the car you're hopping in when you leave the place. It was that easy to find you: "Yup, that lady in the police cruiser over there."

And then you get driven to the detention center IN YOUR OWN CRUISER!

How embarrassing that must've been!

Looks like this wasn't just some misunderstanding either, because Conners has been fired by the Columbus Police Department.

Man, we've covered some bad policing stories over the years here, but this one nears the top of the list. Cuz you shouldn't shoplift while on duty — that's kind of an obvious one.
