The topic of censorship has been on everyone's minds this week, with you know, that thing where Twitter and Facebook tried to actively shut down a story that might negatively affect the candidate running against Orange Man Bad.
As we descend into a world where users are forced to comply with Orwellian Newspeak, a new report has come out looking at all the times Trump and his campaign team have been censored versus every time Ol' Joe and his comrades have gotten the social boot.
Want to take a guess at how the two compare?
If you've checked the internet or seen any news program in the last few years, you might have a suspicion that Trump has gotten the worse end of the deal. You might try to give social media the benefit of the doubt, however, since Trump tweets at approximately the speed of light, shattering the laws of physics with a sheer volume of content that makes fact-checking or censorship more likely.
The actual answer is both astounding and appalling.
Trump and his campaign have been blocked, banned, or had posts removed for "disinformation" 65 times since May 2018.
65 times!
Some of these included satirical posts and memes or posts on actual policy.
As for Joe Biden and everyone associated with his campaign, they have been censored in the same ways approximately this many times:
Zero, zilch, zip, diddly-squat, nil.
But don't worry, I'm sure Zuckerberg and Dorsey are doing their best to ensure a fair and nonpartisan platform where a variety of views can freely be expressed, as opposed to a dystopian tech nightmare where one entire side of the political aisle is shadowbanned, doxed, and excommunicated from civil society in an attempt to enforce #Tolerance.
I'm also sure that each individual employee of these companies – though more than 90% of their political donations go to Democrats – care about the standards of an open forum for the exchange of ideas.
I ALSO have it on good authority that the best way to keep disinformation from influencing an election is to directly influence an election by controlling the flow of information.
It must be nice to be on the Biden team, letting the mainstream media and tech overlords do the heavy lifting while you just smile at the camera. No wonder he's finishing up his schedule by 9 AM EST and taking entire days off just weeks from the election.
