San Fran responds to robbery of convenience store by [checks notes] telling the owner he must fix the damage in 90 days 🤡
· Jun 27, 2024 · NottheBee.com

I have never hated bureaucracy more in my entire life.

This is the fourth — yes, FOURTH — time San Francisco convenience store Cigarettes Cheaper has been broken into. Last time was a year ago, when thieves left with $80,000 worth of cigarettes. This time, however, the owner is feeling the itch to get the heck out of Dodge and leave his store behind.

That's partially due to the fact that the city, instead of simply treating him like the victim of a crime, has decided to send him a violation notice telling him he has 90 days to clean up his store or he will face punishment.

Not joking.

Bro, they can't slow the crime, but they need him to clean up his property in the next 90 days, or else.

These thieves stole thousands of dollars in cigarettes, caused tens of thousands in damages, and the city's priority is for him to get the place cleaned up?!?

Yeah, so store owner Bashir Naderi tells the media,

I think we're on the verge of just completely closing up shop because the profit is not that great, all we're trying to do is trying to maintain … and on top of it we're dealing with this.

Bro, I'm honestly surprised Cigarettes Cheaper lasted this long. They don't even have insurance at the store anymore because nobody wants to insure the place.

Seriously, they're just sitting ducks waiting to be struck again, and I wouldn't insure them either.

Here's what a local a public safety advocate had to say.

Mark Dietrich is a public safety advocate and resident of the Richmond District.

‘I'm not surprised. I continue to be saddened and disgusted. Our neighborhood continues to be picked clean by crime. Our city leaders appear to do very little,' said Dietrich.

‘It's happening in every merchant corridor in our neighborhood. Whether it's Geary or Clement Street or Balboa, where we have these wonderful restaurants and merchants, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't been broken into multiple times. So, I don't know how small businesses can take it and survive in this environment.'

Of course, the data says crime is down in San Francisco because, uhh…

Yeah man, you can cover up the data all you want, but it's not gonna change reality.
