This Texas mom of 5 found out she had an arrest warrant for overdue library books and a judge “didn’t want to hear” her side of the story

Kaylee Morgan was recently shocked to find out that she could go to jail over two library books that the Navasota Public Library claims she failed to return last year.

In my head, the interaction with police was like that old episode of Seinfeld.

She only found out about the warrant when she was at the DMV attempting to renew her driver's license, and was informed that she was not able to because of the outstanding warrant.

The mother-of-five explained in a Facebook video,

So I go in and the DMV tells me that they cannot renew my license because I have a warrant out for my arrest, and I audibly laugh. And I'm shocked because I haven't been pulled over, haven't got any tickets. It just doesn't make sense.

She was given a $600 ticket for the overdue books that she will be required to pay before she can renew her driver's license, only 10% of that fine is for the actual value of the books, with the other $540 made up mostly of court fees.

As for the books themselves, Morgan claims that she did return them, but one was too large for the return box, and when she brought it to the desk, the system was down.

Having been to a library before, I 100% believe this moms story.

After finding out about the outstanding warrant, Morgan says she met with the judge and explained what happened, also telling the judge that she was pregnant with her fifth child and was placed on bed rest around that time.

According to Morgan, the judge was not interested in hearing her side of things, saying,

She told me she didn't want to hear my excuses, that I needed to take responsibility. She said, what I have done by not returning the library books is the same as stealing from Walmart.

Morgan went on to explain,

So on my record it says that I have stolen government property. Bonkers, right? Just bonkers

The homeschooling mother of five says that her next course of action is to hire a lawyer to clear her previously crystal clear record.
