My brothers in Christ, there are better ways to get traction than using random straps from your trunk.
Driving in snow isn't hard.
Get good all-weather tires. Don't cheap out on things that separate you from the ground (shoes, beds, building foundations, and tires).
Don't drive a rear-wheel-drive Mustang in the winter.
Spend 10 minutes in an empty parking lot to practice how to get out of a fishtail (where the rear end slides) and to measure your stopping distance.
Drive slow.
