Local news in Greenville, South Carolina, broke a disturbing story of a women's shelter worker being brutally stabbed with a sword by one of the women at the shelter to the point that "her internal organs were exposed."

But the news didn't give the full story.

It turns out the violent "woman" in question is Michell Silva Perez, a man dressed as a woman, and he flew into a rage at not being permitted into the women's shelter.

The man is being held in isolation at a male prison on charges of possession of a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

Miracle Hill, a shelter for mothers with young children, released a statement:

In the morning hours of July 18, 2024, one of our staff members was attacked by a former guest in the parking lot of our women's emergency shelter in Greenville. This guest had been disqualified from our program the night before for not following the guidelines of the facility. The injured staff member received immediate medical care and is currently stable and recuperating. The offender is in police custody. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. We want to express our gratitude to our first responders, who acted swiftly and professionally during this incident. Their prompt and diligent efforts ensured the safety of everyone involved.
