President Trump is either playing 4d chess here or he just really, really dislikes foreign films.

Yes, we want to save Hollyweird, for some reason, and Trump wants to keep foreign movies OUT of the United States.

I'll be honest, I'm having trouble following this one.

President Donald Trump announced plans Sunday to implement a 100% tariff on movies made in other countries that are imported to the United States, decrying other nations for offering financial incentives meant to 'draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States.'

Filmmaking is a slowly failing California industry and NBC notes that Ontario, Canada, has taken to picking up where Hollywood is lacking. This may also be a reciprocal tariff on China, which recently announced a tariff on American films.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Sunday that 'other nations have been stealing the movies, the moviemaking capabilities from the United States,' blaming California Gov. Newsom for the decline in film production in Hollywood specifically over the last several years ...

'If they're not willing to make a movie inside the United States, we should have a tariff when movies come in,' Trump said. 'I can tell you one thing, moviemakers love it.'

Here is that clip:

This is all part of Trump's plan to make Hollywood Great Again, led by his Hollywood team of Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sly Stallone.

People are still confused.

Trump's Art of the Deal strategy involves making some wild, over-the-top move that throws people off balance so he can see how people respond to it, which he uses to bring them to the negotiating table.

Maybe he's tempting China to tariff our films even more. Because I can tell you, 90% of the slop coming out of Hollywood is created to appeal to China.

We'd definitely have better films if China stopped calling the shots in Hollywood!
