Trump just posted this and he makes a good point

Trump's out here Constitution-posting and I am all about it.

What's this all about? I don't know, maybe the insane $400 million or so fine Trump has to pay in New York for "defrauding" real estate companies and banks (none of whom maintained that they were defrauded).

Trump testified in said case that he has about $400 million in cash on hand. With fees and interest, he'll owe over that. Imagine if you have $10,000 in the bank. A local DA decides to arrest you because she thinks you overvalued your home. But those banks assessed the value themselves, gave you a loan, and made money off the interest. There is no actual victim. Then, during the trial, the judge asks how much cash you have on hand (AKA the amount that would really hurt you and make you unable to afford any further financial blows).

Then the judge fines you for that amount, plus some, knowing that you'll have to pony up the money or get bonds and be without your cash for months while you spend more money on an appeal - likely with the outcome that you are financially ruined and declare bankruptcy. If that wasn't bad enough, he then bans you from running your own company in your own city for three years to make sure you are destitute.

What would you call that?

Ah, but you see, it's a politician on the wrong side of the aisle!

This is lawfare, and it's exactly what the Founders were worried about.

That "free and fair" democracy is working so well, isn't it?
