A kidnapping — particularly of a very young child — is always a nightmarish scenario. The safe recovery of a kidnapping victim is always a gift from God.
And when it's done like this, well, you just have to shake your head and marvel at it:
A gut feeling shared by two Indiana mothers helped capture a kidnapping suspect and saved the life of a missing Ohio baby.
Two Indianapolis women, mainly working with each other and their mothers' intuitions, rescued five-month-old Kason Thomas, the missing twin baby who was abducted last Monday night in Columbus.
One of the mothers, Shyann Delmar, became wrapped up in the case when she bought some toys from a woman who identified herself as "Mae." Delmar subsequently saw news of the Columbus kidnapping on Facebook; she thought a mugshot of the suspect looked suspiciously like the "Mae" from whom she had bought the toys.
Delmar subsequently got her cousin, Mecka Curry, involved in the case:
The pair say they set up a plan to get Jackson in their vehicle, working with police to pull them over so they could arrest her.
This plan was extremely difficult to accomplish due to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department not believing them or taking them seriously, the woman said. The pair consistently rotated between Columbus Police, who were listening to them but telling them to call IMPD, and IMPD who either didn't answer or didn't believe them, they added.
I suppose police do get a ton of tips every day and might be a little skeptical if one of them sounds too good to be true.
Thankfully, the cops ultimately took things seriously and the pair pulled off the bust:
"Mae" had called and asked Delmar if she wanted to buy more toys, and the mothers used that to get her in the car.
Once in the car, both women knew 100% that this was Jackson, they said.
"The confirmation was just too crazy," Curry said. ...
Their plan worked. Jackson was taken into custody Thursday by Indianapolis police.
The baby was subsequently found, reportedly unharmed. The suspect is meanwhile reportedly facing two counts of felony kidnapping.
