Viral "TMFINR" airplane lady issues public apology for her behavior

About a week ago, the woman behind the viral airplane freakout video was tracked down and revealed to be a 38-year-old marketing exec from Texas named Tiffany Gomas.

According to reports, a stressed-out Gomas thought that someone had stolen her AirPod headphones and went totally ballistic, resulting in the viral video you've all seen by now.

On Sunday, Ms. Gomas released this apology, hoping for it to be the final word on the controversy.

First and foremost I want to take full accountability for my actions. They were completely unacceptable. Distressed or not, I should have been in control of my emotions, and that was not the case.

My use of profanity was completely unnecessary, and I wanna apologize to everyone on that plane, especially those that had children on board. Can't imagine going through that and having to explain to your kid what in the world just happened.

We all have our bad moments, some far worse than others, and mine happened to be caught on camera for the whole world to see, multiple times.

Many people who loved the meme and have tremendous sympathy for this woman think that the apology is completely unnecessary. I just want to be one of the people who defend this apology.

She apologized for losing control, she apologized for her foul language, and she showed contrition.

Here's more of the apology. I think this is really important.

While it has been really comical for everyone, and I have highly enjoyed so many of the memes, on the flipside it is very invasive and unkind. And I don't know what I would do without the love and support of my friends and family. They are loyal to a fault and I don't know what I did to deserve them.

The fact that it took WEEKS for journalists to track her down attests to her family's devotion to her. It's not a small thing.

I hope that I can use this experience and do a little bit of good in this world. And that is what I intend to do. I hope that you guys can accept my apology and I can begin to move on with my life.

Nowhere in this video does she play the victim. She doesn't say it's not her fault and she doesn't blame anyone but herself.

This is a woman who is truly embarrassed, as any of us would be, and appears to be truly sorry for what she has done. And I think it would be noble to accept her apparently sincere apology and move on.

Keep her out of the limelight. She's not capitalizing off the rant and selling t-shirts or anything. She doesn't want the attention she had and it was wrong to track her down.

We need to let this legend live in peace now. ๐Ÿคฒ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
