You always want selling a home to be as painless and hassle-free as possible.
Alas, for some Virginia homeowners, that was decidedly not the case:
Trying to sell a home turned surreal for a Virginia property owner when a family of five showed up and refused to leave, even under threat of arrest, according to investigators.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, in a neighborhood north of Stafford, about a 65-mile drive north from Richmond.
According to the local sheriff's office, the homeowner arrived one morning last week "to discover a man and four children inside" the home he was attempting to sell. The man, Napoleon Osei Boakye, apparently thought piracy would work for him.
It gets even wilder:
"When deputies arrived, they would observe the five uninvited guests still within the residence," the sheriff's department said. "Deputies requested the suspect to step out, but instead he would just stare out the window at them."
Cops are like "Get out!" and the dude's like:
"Since he would not come out, deputies went in and detained him without incident," the sheriff's office said. (Not sure what else this guy thought would happen!)
Apparently, Napoleon had previously toured the home:
The victim would recognize the suspect from a house tour on the 7th where he inquired about buying the residence. Apparently, the suspect liked the house, for he prematurely moved in.
Walking into that house you toured like:
The perp was reportedly wanted in two other jurisdictions; he was arrested and his children transferred to another family member.
The sheriff's office, meanwhile, couldn't resist:
While Boayke wanted to move to Onville Road, he instead would be moving into Rappahannock Regional Jail.
At least he won't have to pay any closing costs at the lockup!
