Kamala Harris was famously disliked during the 2020 primaries, enjoying a brief moment in the polls before cratering spectacularly. Then Joe Biden picked her for his running mate and everyone was kinda forced to pretend to be excited about her.
Now she's apparently at the top of everyone's second draft:
Vice President Kamala Harris is the top choice for Democrats if President Biden chooses not to run again in 2024, according to a new poll.
The vice president received support from 13% of respondents in The Hill/HarrisX poll despite her historically low approval ratings, according to The Hill.
Yeah, 13% is not great. Indeed, as Fox noted, "former first lady Michelle Obama came in second with backing of 10%."
Kamala Harris is a lifelong career politician with arguably the second-highest brand recognition in the world. To be so close in the polls to a former First Lady who left office nearly five years ago and whose major accomplishment therein was a hated revision of school lunch programs... well, it doesn't look good for Kamala.
If she pulls it off though I'm not looking forward to four more years of that really unsettling and ever-present cackle. It's just the truth, folks.
