Guys, this is truly incredible.
Yes, the Washington Compost is extolling the benefit of trickle-down economics - you know, that evil capitalist system where the richer the people at the top get, the more everyone else gets - because it's now Taylor Swift at the top.
WaPo has, for years, criticized the very idea of the trickle-down economy. But now that Taylor Swift is king of the hill, the idea is totally self-evidently a logical construction.
It's almost as if we just needed a benevolent dictatress, a goddess, to shower us with blessings from the offerings and tributes offered her.
I'm being sarcastic. But am I wrong?
The biggest windfall is headed straight to Swift, who stands to make as much as $4.1 billion from the Eras Tour, according to estimates from Peter Cohan, an associate professor of management at Babson College.
Okay, but I thought the very idea of billionaires even existing was repulsive and immoral according to lefties.
I guess it's okay though as long as you SLAY QUEEN!
But the WaPo wants you to know that, sure T-Swizzle is bringing in billions herself, but it's good for everyone!
The tour's economic boost spread far past the walls of Swift's stadium venues, as fans traveled from near and far to any show they could get their hands on. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia even put the Swift effect in a report โ saying concertgoers provided a sizable boost to hotel revenue in May.
Hotels, restaurants and shops around the country felt the upswing, with millions of dollars flowing into the 20 U.S. cities Swift visited this summer. Cincinnati estimated that it would see about $48 million in additional economic impact, according to Visit Cincy and the Cincinnati Regional Chamber's Center for Research and Data.
Of course, according to this story, Swift fans are SPENDING $93 million every single concert. So it's not exactly a boost for the concertgoers. But hotel owners and venue owners are rolling in it!
And with the Eras tour coming to theaters, the movie theater industry is about to get a huge boost.
It looks like the trickle-down theory is good when it comes to Taylor Swift. But for literally everyone else in the world, it's a fake theory put forward by evil capitalists. Elon Musk, who is building next-gen spaceships and cars and satellite networks? Take all his money! Pay his fair share! Sue him! Socialism for all!
Enjoy your billions, Taylor! You earned it!
