An illegal immigrant from El Salvador died in a shootout with Nebraska police on Wednesday. He was a convicted felon.
28-year-old Juan Melgar-Ayala shot 61-year-old Michael Kasper in the chest several times at a North Omaha grocery store on Wednesday. Fortunately, the man is expected to live. After being tracked by police, Melgar-Ayala was later found to be at a South Omaha QuickTrip gas station.
Police watched him walk into the QuickTrip and head to the bathroom. They then called for backup before entering the store. After calling several times in English and Spanish for Juan to exit the stall peacefully. Here's what they saw next:
The officers returned fire and then retreated, with a civilian. As you may notice from the above photo, a man was sitting in the second stall just peacefully trying to TCOB. Once that guy was out of the bathroom the shootout was back on. Juan exited the bathroom with more gunfire and was shortly deceased.

The good news is we don't have to deport Mr. Melgar-Ayala.
