Like something out of a horror movie, NYC resident Leonard Shoulders, was waiting for a bus in the Bronx when the sidewalk gave way and he plummeted 15 feet underground into a "mischief" of rats.
PS, I was "today years old" when I learned that a ton of rats is called a mischief.
Shoulders' brother recounted the nightmare to the NY Daily News:
"As he was falling, he scraped his face, broke his arm and broke his leg … He couldn't move, and the rats were crawling all over him. He didn't scream, because he didn't want the rats going into his mouth."
Poor guy was afraid to call for help for fear the rats would get in his mouth. Did you read that?! He was afraid the rats would get in his mouth!
My skin is crawling (with goosebumps, not rats!) just typing these words.
He was stuck down there for a half hour before being rescued!
Maybe I'm just projecting here, but forget medical help — this guy's gonna need psychiatric help to deal with the PTSD. No joke.
