United Methodist Church lifts ban on "LGBTQ clergy" ... and that's just the tip of the woke iceberg at this year's convention

It's sad.

Honestly, I can't be angry at these folks. They think they are serving Christ while profaning his name and it's wretchedly pitiful. My heart breaks to see them deceived like this.

United Methodist delegates repealed their church's longstanding ban on LGBTQ clergy with no debate on Wednesday, removing a rule forbidding "self-avowed practicing homosexuals" from being ordained or appointed as ministers.

Delegates voted 692-51 at their General Conference — the first such legislative gathering in five years.

Six-hundred ninety-two to fifty-one.

Let that sink in.

Earlier in the week, the pro-LGBTQ cohort outside of the convention celebrated because of the passage of a petition that would remove any and all "anti-LGBT" petitions from the floor. That allowed the ban on "LGBTQ clergy" (I have to put it in quotes because it is so laughable).

It's not just promoting homosexuality among congregants. They're trying to make God himself trans and gay.

Be respectful of the choice of language that is used. Including avoiding exclusively male language for God. Be conscious of inferred power dynamics.

Sad to see the devil completely take over an entire denomination.

I'll leave the Methodists with a few verses to prick their consciences.

On sexual ethics:

  • "If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable act. They must be put to death; their death is their own fault." - Leviticus 20:13
  • "A woman is not to wear male clothing, and a man is not to put on a woman's garment, for everyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord your God." - Deuteronomy 22:5
  • "There has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. They are surprised that you don't join them in the same flood of wild living — and they slander you. They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead." - 1 Peter 4:3-4
  • "Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God's kingdom." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
  • "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen. For this reason God delivered them over to disgraceful passions. Their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. The men in the same way also left natural relations with women and were inflamed in their lust for one another." - Romans 1:25-27

On the judgement that will come to false and wayward leaders:

  • "Not many should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we will receive a stricter judgment." - James 3:1
  • "There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves." - 2 Peter 2:1
  • "Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves ... Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." - Matthew 7:15, 19

On God as Father:

  • "A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me? says the Lord of Armies to you priests, who despise my name." - Malachi 1:6
  • "'Don't cling to me,' Jesus told her, 'since I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" - John 20:17
  • "Jesus said to them, 'If God were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and I am here. For I didn't come on my own, but he sent me.'" - John 8:42

And finally, from Isaiah 57:

Come here, you witch's sons, offspring of an adulterer and a prostitute! Who are you mocking? Who are you opening your mouth and sticking out your tongue at?

Isn't it you, you rebellious children, you offspring of liars, who burn with lust among the oaks, under every green tree, who slaughter children in the wadis below the clefts of the rocks? ... When you cry out, let your collection of idols rescue you! The wind will carry all of them off, a breath will take them away.
