Drag performances sexualizing kids is now a thing of the past in Florida.
On Wednesday, Florida's governor Ron DeSantis signed common sense drag control into law, banning sexualized performances in front of minors and leveling harsh penalties to venues that allow sexualized shows.
Watch DeSantis explain why this bill is nothing but common decency:
If you are an establishment having these adut performances you have an obligation to make sure that these young kids are not permitted in the premises. And we're going to hold you accountable if you're not meeting that obligation...
We want to make sure that's uniform (through legislation) that when you have adult entertainment, when you have these sexually explicit performances that there should not be any of these kids there.
Kids shouldn't be exposed to sexualized drag and adult performances. This isn't an attack on the LGBT community in particular, although many think it is. If the LGBT movement thinks they're under attack, then that says much more about them and their methods than about Ron DeSantis.
Basically, the law says that if you're a business and you host a sexually explicit show with kids present that the state can fine you out of business.
This is a good thing and will protect kids from groomers.
