A scene of harrowing awfulness out of Texas this week:
You can see where dude realizes what he's done and makes the awful decision to just keep going:
The alleged perp was arrested shortly thereafter by airport police:
Local media identified him as 31-year-old Benjamin Hylander, who was "listed as working for American Airlines' cargo team." (That probably explains the union shirt in the above photo!)
Here's the suspect's mug shot:
Let's just say I think this guy might be getting hit with a pretty stiff DWI rap:
Hylander was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Results of a breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol concentration was over 0.15, the minimum threshold for a second degree misdemeanor DWI charge.
While searching Hylander's car, police found six empty cans of Voodoo Ranger beer in a backpack behind the passenger seat. The car was towed and is being held for evidence.
Six cans of Voodoo Ranger?
Y'all beer aficionados out there don't need me to tell you ... Voodoo Ranger is a heavy brand. Their IPAs will knock you flat if you're not careful.
Neither biker was mortally injured, though both suffered "severe lacerations." Apparently the suspect tried to make amends at the scene:
While the cyclist he had hit was being treated by paramedics, Hylander ran to the scene and shouted, ‘I'm sorry,' police said. He attempted to speak to an injured cyclist but was pulled away by officers.
I don't think "sorry" is gonna cut it here, bud.
