Everyone listen up! Stephen Colbert is here to tell you EXACTLY what it means to be a good Christian!
Here Colbert and Gay Mayor Pete call out the new "religious extremism" of the Right, where Republicans have selected a Christian who believes his faith applies to all areas of life.
Colbert: His (Mike Johnson's) record on LGBTQ issues is, what's the word, awful! So how do you work with a guy who argued that same-sex relations were "the dark harbinger of chaos and sexual anarchy that could doom even the strongest republic"?
Man, before I heard that quote from Mike Johnson I really, really liked him.
Now that I've heard his views on homosexuality put so starkly... I freaking love the guy!
I couldn't have said it better myself!
But for Colbert and Buttigieg, this spells disaster.
Pete: Look, I'll work with anybody who can help us get good transportation available to the American people... I don't know, maybe we'll just have him over. Because our whole house isn't that far from the capitol, so if he could just see what it's like when I come home from work and Chas is bringing the kids home from daycare... one of us is getting the mac n' cheese ready and the other one is microwaving one of those freezer meatballs... everything about that is chaos... but nothing about that is dark.
The love of God is in that house!
Let's see, we have 8 years of Obergefell proving that the worst nightmares of Christian conservatives were all justified with transgenderism kicking down the door and groomer schools all over the country.
But Gay Mayor Pete and his "husband" are as American as apple pie and Mike Johnson is just a bigot for noticing all the destruction to civilization since 2015.
Devout Catholic Stephen Colbert lets us know how REAL Christians should believe, unlike Mike Johnson!
Colbert: Well, uh, too bad for Mike Johnson and great for everybody else, same-sex marriage is legal, it's constitutional, it's thriving.
You tell him, you "faithful presence" Catholic! What a way to be a witness for Christ!
Yeah, I think it's safe to say that idolizing people like Colbert as examples of Christians in public life was pretty foolish in hindsight.
Thank God for faithful Christians like Mike Johnson who don't compromise their beliefs for public praise. ๐ค
