An aerospace company had to remotely detonate their rocket after it lost control shortly after launch and the footage is pretty wild

Aspiring space company Firefly on Thursday was forced to remotely detonate what it hoped would be its first rocket to orbit the Earth, blowing it up as it began to lose control shortly after taking flight.

U.S. Space Force officials ordered the company to perform an "emergency abort" of the rocket after it began to tumble. Such maneuvers are done to ensure out-of-control rockets do not harm anyone on the ground.

The company in a statement on Twitter admitted that it "did not meet all of our mission objectives," but that it "did achieve a number of them," including ignition, liftoff and supersonic speeds.

They forgot to add: Got a pretty sweet vid out of it too.
