I'm not saying I want to get wrapped up in this lady's criminal lifestyle.
I am saying that I want to go to whatever cookout she was going to, though.
A woman stole more than $2,000 in meat from an H-E-B grocery store as the clerk tries unsuccessfully to stop her, according to the Temple Police Department.
Police say it happened on April 15 around 3:34 p.m. at the store located on the 3000 block of S. 31 Street in Temple. Officers were dispatched to the location for reports of a theft in progress.
When police arrived, they were told that two women had stolen a large quantity of meat and then drove off. A store employee saw the two women exit the store with the purloined meat and tried to pull the cart away from them, but the women were able to load all of the meat into their car.
As an aside, how often does a journalist get to use the term "purloined meat?"
The case, meanwhile, remains open:
Police said the same women let a shopping cart run into a another vehicle in the parking lot, causing damage to the car. Police estimate the two women got away with over $2,000 in meat. Police say it is still very much an active investigation.
They'd better hurry before the crooks eat up all of that delicious meat, though!
